Which Arabic dialects do you interpret?
In addition to Modern Standard Arabic, I support Egyptian, Lebanese, Syrian, Palestinian, and Jordanian Arabic dialects. I don’t support Moroccan, Tunisian or Algerian Arabic, but if you need help with these dialects, I can point you in the direction of someone who can help.
How do you handle confidentiality and sensitive information?
I have extensive experience facilitating sensitive discussions and I’m familiar with trauma-informed terminology, safeguarding principles and mental health and psychosocial support (MHPSS).
How do language barriers affect immigrants in Italy?
Not understanding the local language means newly arrived immigrants can struggle to access housing, employment, healthcare, education or any other support they need. It can also have a big impact on social integration and quality of life. While many Arabic-speaking migrants eventually learn Italian to a good level, many arrive in Italy with non-existent Italian language skills. Cultural mediation removes this barrier and provides immediate support while they integrate.
